On Tuesday (August 24), Karnataka and the entire country woke up to the shocking news of a gang rape incident in Mysuru near the foothills of Chamundi Hills. A 23-year-old MBA student for gang-raped by five men and is currently at the hospital receiving treatment. Many sandalwood actors including Jaggesh, Chetan, and Shruthi took to social media to condemn the incident and called for justice. While the Mysuru police officials have been collecting clues, they are yet to crack a major breakthrough in the gang-rape case.
In a report from Times of India, Indrajith Lakshesh told reporters, "It’s been 72 hours since the incident occurred, the police are yet to nab the culprits. The statements made by politicians are just appalling. Instead of questioning why she ventured out at that time, it is the duty of the police department to provide safety to every woman once she steps outside her home. The incident should not happen that too in a city like Mysuru which is known for its heritage and culture and receives lakhs of tourists every year. I hope justice is served to the student at the earliest.”
