Today, October 28, Boney Kapoor finally made the official announcement on Twitter that the film will be released during Pongal 2023.
Initially, there were rumors that the film will be released on Christmas this year. It is now official that Vijay's "Varisu" and Ajith's "Thunivu" will compete at the box office. The 'Varisu' producers recently stated that the Vijay starrer will be released on Pongal.
It will also mark Vijay's entry into Tollywood. The movie's release was also confirmed by the first look poster. A big premiere is planned for this Pongal. In his most recent interactions with the press and media, Tiruppur Subramaniam, the head of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owner Association, confirmed that Ajith's "Thunivu" is also scheduled to be released for Pongal 2023. Theatre owners are prepared to welcome both films of the leading actors grandly. They plan to share an equal number of screens between them.
