The Good Place actress is deep in controversy. It all began when reports said Jamil was to MC a voguing competition. After receiving backlash, the actress came out as queer. She faced criticism for that as well and people wondered whether she was speaking the truth. The actress shared posts on social media over the weekend to explain her side of the story.
Her boyfriend, James Blake, shared a lengthy post on Twitter in support. Jamil wrote her own post about the past week and about the claims that she has Munchausen syndrome. It is a mental illness wherein people fake health scares for attention.
Thanking @lauriepink for the artwork, Jamil said. “I have had to fight like a f**** dog this week against false accusations.” The actress went online defending her statements from the past when she opened up about her health issues.
She added. “I’ve been in this business 11 years and am a smart woman. I wouldn’t lie in print or on camera knowing how permanent the internet is. Especially knowing how much our media loves to portray women as liars and hysterics. I always own up to any mistake I make. I never hide from it. I publicly learn from my mistakes with other people joining me, so we can grow as a community.”
“I’ll be damned if some lies and conspiracy theories are going to get in my way. I have work to do,” and said, “something good always comes of a shit storm.” “Have a great f**** Sunday,” she ended. Here is her full statement.
