While movies can be filmed or released after the COVID-19 subsides, the option does not really fit the Television industry. However, James Gordon has decided to conduct his show even as Social Distancing changes the face of the Television Industry. Corden has decided to single-handedly run the show from the comfort of his garage. The segment titled “Homefest” will bring together artists from around the globe — BTS in South Korea, Andrea Bocelli in Italy, Dua Lipa in London, and Billie Eilish with Finneas and John Legend in Los Angeles, to name a few in a virtual concert.
Corden says that he will do most of the work with a little help from the participants.
“We built a tiny sort of set in my garage and my wife powdered my nose,” Corden told Variety. “We have a locked-off camera and my laptop. I’m completely on my own in there,” he added.
“For the special, Will Ferrell provided pre-taped comedy sketches, while David Blaine will perform a 'trick on basically' all of us,” Corden added.
The show will concert with the virtual concert with the musicians performing from their homes!
“Once it became clear we couldn’t do our [regular] show, we started thinking, ‘Is there a world where we could make a global show that could bring people together by keeping them apart?’” Corden said. “I thought maybe there’s a way we could make a show that shows we are all in this together.”
The special program "Homefest" will raise money for charity. The money will be donated to the CDC Foundation and Feeding America.
Corden will also appear on London’s National Theatre's weekly YouTube series "One Man, Two Guvnors.”
