Court warned actress Kangana Ranaut in the defamation case of lyricist Javed Akhtar. This was after she failed to appear in court on the case. The Metropolitan Magistrate's Court warned them to issue an arrest warrant if she fails to appear in court next time.
The actress did not appear in court on Tuesday. She said she had been busy for the past two weeks in connection with the promotion of the new film Thalaivii. She also said she had Covid symptoms.
Meanwhile, complainant Javed Akhtar along with his wife Shabana Azmi appeared in court. Javed Akhtar's lawyer objected to giving Kangana another chance to appear.
The lawyer alleged that the tactic of delaying the court action was behind not appearing for various reasons each time. The Bombay High Court had earlier rejected Kangana's plea seeking dismissal of the case.
In 2020, Javed Akhtar filed a complaint against Kangana. Kangana Ranaut was quoted as saying that Javed Akhtar is part of a group that has led many to commit suicide.
Kangana Ranaut has been widely accused in the national media. Javed Akhtar says Kangana Ranaut's remarks tarnish his image. He added that action should be taken against her.
On the work front, Kangana’s new film Thalaivii was released recently. Aside from ‘Thalaivii,’ Kangana will act in the action comedy film ‘Dhaakad.' The actress has already begun filming on the film ‘Tejas,' in which she plays an air force officer. Kangana's has two new films in her kitty as well. This includes 'Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda' and the political drama 'Emergency.'
