The former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, breathed her last on December 5, 2016. After she passed away, many filmmakers came forward to helm her biopic and nearly 5 biopics are in the making either as a full-fledged film or as a web-series.
Last week, Deepa Jayakumar had filed a plea with Madras High Court saying that the filmmakers haven’t gotten permission from the family as their films comprise of personal information regarding Jayalalithaa and her life.
On hearing Deepa’s plea, the Madras High Court has issued notices to Gautham Menon, AL Vijay, and Vishnuvardhan asking explanation regarding seeking permission from the family to direct a film or web-series about J Jayalalithaa. They expected to respond to the court in the coming days.
Gautham Menon is in the process of making a web-series in which Ramya Krishnan will play the titular role of J Jayalalithaa. AL Vijay who is helming the film Thalaivi starring Kangana Ranaut had claimed that they had obtained a NOC from Deepa’s brother Deepak.
