The lead role in Mani Ratnam's upcoming historical drama, "Ponniyin Selvan," will be played by Jayam Ravi, and the film's first instalment is set to hit theatres on September 30. As well as actors from various industries, the movie features Malayalam actor Jayaram, who plays the vital role of Alwarkadiyan. Jayam Ravi and Jayaram visited the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple before the movie's release. On Twitter, Jayam Ravi posted images of himself and Jayaram taken at the well-known Ayyappa shrine in Sabarimala, Kerala, and referred to the latter as his Gurusami.
Jayam Ravi and the "Ponniyin Selvan" team travelled to Trivandrum, Kerala, to promote the movie. After that, they had a day off to interact with fans in Bangalore. Jayam Ravi and Jayaram went to the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple to pray to Lord Ayyapan during the one-day break.
The "Ponniyin Selvan" crew met fans yesterday in Hyderabad, where Telugu fans warmly welcomed them. The stars of "Ponniyin Selvan" are now travelling to Mumbai to promote the movie in the Northern regions. Pictures of the celebs from the promotional tour have surfaced on the internet.
The film "Ponniyin Selvan" is based on the Kalki Krishnamoorthy novel that tells the history of the Cholas. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayam Ravi, Chiyaan Vikram, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Jayaram, and Prabhu all had significant parts in the movie, which has music by AR Rahman.
