'JGM,' Second Film Of Vijay Deverakonda Puri Jagannadh Combo, Is Reportedly Shelved

Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, was Puri Jagannadh's pet project, but it failed to make an impact. The film was supposed to formally introduce Vijay to Bollywood and Ananya to south Indian cinema, but the film's lackluster premise, lukewarm music, and even the acting all failed to make it memorable fare. Even before Liger was finished, the Arjun Reddy star announced a patriotic film titled JGM with Puri, but rumors began to circulate on social media that the film has been shelved. Not only did many fans ask Vijay not to do the film with Puri, but there was speculation that the actor felt the same way after Liger failed to make an impact at the box office.

According to a source close to the situation, "Puri and Vijay agreed amicably that now is not the right time to begin shooting for JGM." The film requires a large budget, and they were unwilling to take such a risk so soon after Liger's failure. They realized that now is not the time to make such a film. The film, however, is not shelved; it is simply postponed until later. Vijay and Puri will undoubtedly collaborate again once they are both in a comfortable enough space."

Given the positive response Vijay received for Liger, fans may breathe a sigh of relief that JGM has been postponed for the time being. They are looking forward to seeing him in Shiva Nirvana's Kushi, which also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
