Fans are eagerly waiting for Vijay Deverakonda's Bollywood film 'Liger'. After creating a big wave in the South Indian film world, now the actor is sure to make his strong presence in Bollywood as well with a new film. The release of the film has been announced on August 25.
'Ligar' is a pan India film produced by Karan Johar's production company Dharma Productions. Telugu director Puri Jagannath is directing the film. Ananya Pandey is playing the heroine in the film. Ramya Krishnan is also appearing as an important character.
Meanwhile, the director has revealed that Ananya was not his first choice for the film. Puri Jagannath said this while speaking at the film's promotion event in Mumbai. He meant Janhvi Kapoor along with Vijay Devarakonda. But Karan Johar suggested Ananya Pandey's name as Janhvi did not have a date, said Liger director Puri Jagannath. "I am a big fan of Sridevi Ji, so I wanted to do the role with Jhanvi (Kapoor), but the date was not available," he said.
When told that Jhanvi's date is not available, Karan suggests looking for Ananya instead. "He (Karan) suggested Ananya Pandey after hearing the story," said the director. When asked why she decided to do her first pan-Indian film with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Puri Jagannath replied that she likes him and that he is the king. Karan liked Vijay's, Arjun Reddy. He also said that Karan had told Vijay that if any good script comes to him, he should send it to him. That's how Liger came to him, the director said.
