Actor and comedian Johnny Lever recently opened up about his school days and childhood struggles with his alcoholic father. In a new interview, the comedian revealed that he left school in Class 7 because his father never paid attention to his education. However, his class teacher, Damyanti's teacher, showed him a lot of love and cared for him even after he left school.
Johnny Lever has worked in over 300 Hindi films and has been recognized for his comedic performances in movies such as Deewana Mastana (1997) and Dulhe Raja (1998). He won the Filmfare Awards for roles in these films. Lever recently made his OTT debut with Pop Kaun on Disney+ Hotstar, where he stars alongside his daughter Jamie and son Jessy, among other actors.
Lever also discussed his recent film Cirkus. The film has Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in dual roles and failed to live up to audience expectations. Despite this, Lever remains positive about the film and said that it shows that audiences still expect good comedy from stars.
Regarding his school days, Lever said in the interview, “I got a lot of love while I was in school, I used to imitate everyone. Even the teachers. My class teacher, Damyanti teacher, was very lovely. I am still in touch with her. When I left, she sent the students to call me and even wanted to pay the fees and clothes for me to join back the school.”
Lever's children Jamie and Jessy have followed in their father's footsteps. They have joined the entertainment industry. The father-daughter duo worked together in the comedy film Housefull 2 (2019). They are now starring in Pop Kaun with Kunal Kemmu, Nupur Sanon, Saurabh Shukla, Chunky Panday, and Rajpal Yadav.
