25-year-old Bieber beat Elvis’s record with ‘Changes.’ Bieber is the youngest solo artist to reach the number one position seven times with his albums.
Elvis Presley was 26 when he reached his seventh chart-topper, with Blue Hawaii in 1961.
Changes, which marks Bieber's first album in four years, sold 231,000 copies last week. It also topped the UK chart last week.
The album comprises songs of the singer reflecting on teen stardom as he transitions into adulthood. Many of the songs are also written and sung for his wife, model, and actress Hailey Baldwin.
Billboard confirmed that Bieber beat Elvis's chart record. But it also added that if groups get taken into consideration, then The Beatles come out on top. This is because all four members of The Beatles were younger than Bieber when they achieved their seventh number one.
Also, it is unsure whether Bieber will remain at the top.
South Korean band BTS released their latest album, Map of the Soul: 7, last Friday. According to their record label, Big Hit, the album received pre-orders of 4.02 million copies worldwide. These numbers made it the world's biggest-selling album since Ed Sheeran's Divide (2017) before its release. Since then, the record topped the iTunes download charts worldwide. What this means is that the album is almost guaranteed to reach number one when sales and streams calculated for US and UK charts collectively.
