Actress Jyothika’s year was quite experimental with films like Jackpot and Raatsasi. While she got portrayed as a mass heroine in the former, she played a strict teacher in a government school in the latter. Both the films received decent reviews from the critics and audience and turned out to be average grosser at the box office.
Now, the actress is getting ready for the third release of the year. She has teamed up with her real life brother-in-law Karthi for her film Thambi. Directed by Malayalam director Jeethu Joseph, the film is all set to release worldwide on December 20 along with Sivakarthikeyan’s Hero. Jyothika has gone all out in promoting the film with the press and media.
During her promotions, she showered praises on director Jeethu Joseph and how he makes everyone comfortable on the film sets. She said, “What I liked in him is, he approaches any scene with logic. He also gives attention to the audiences’ perspective. I don’t think many directors do that now. He will leave the scene to the performing artist. He lets the artists do their best at the same time gets what is needed.”
Elaborating on her role, she said, “I have portrayed a mother on screen. This is the first time I’m doing a sister role. It’s new and I loved it. I tried to look younger than Karthi. That’s my look in the movie.”
