Kangana Ranaut made her directorial debut with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Though she shared the credits with director Krish Jagarlamudi, Manikarnika marks her debut as a director. After a couple of years, Kangana is all set to don the director's hat again. Earlier this year, the actress announced that she will be playing the titular role in Indira Gandhi biopic. Now, she has announced that she will be directing the movie, which has been titled Emergency. Kangana announced that she is directing the film because nobody else can do a better job at it.
Taking to her Koo account, she wrote, "Pleased to wear Director's hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me, collaborating with fabulous writer Rites Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it, my excitement is high this is going to be a tremendous journey, my leap to another league #Emergency #Indira ." In her latest Instagram post, she can be seen giving her body and face scans and casts to get the look right. She wrote, "Every character is a beautiful beginning of a new journey, today we started the journey of #Emergency #Indira with the body, face scans, and casts to get the look right. Many amazing artists get together to bring one’s vision alive on screen… This one will be very special @manikarnikafilms ."
