Kanika Dhillon Slams Navjot Gulati For His Sexist Remarks; Taapsee Pannu Supports Dhillon's Stance

Author and screenwriter Kanika Dhillon is gearing up for her upcoming Netflix film Haseen Dilruba. A few days ago, when the trailer to the much-anticipated film came out, screenwriter Navjot Gulati took to his Twitter to make backhanded comments regarding Dhillon's credibility. Earlier today, Kanika Dhillon took to Twitter to call out Navjot Gulati's sexist remarks about her. Taapsee Pannu who is the leading actor of the film Haseen Dilruba supported Dhillon's stance.

Navjot Gulati wrote, "If you want top billing as a Screenwriter in a trailer(something that should be the norm). You need to marry into the production house. Once the Writer becomes a family member, is treated like an Actor-Star. #Goals." Navjot Gulati was hinting at Kanika Dhillon's writer's credits for Haseen Dilruba. The family in question is Kanika's husband Himanshu Sharma with whom she tied the knot earlier this year. Himanshu Sharma happens to be the co-producer of Haseen Dilruba. Reacting to Gulati's comments, Dhillon slammed him for his sexist comments that imply that she could not have possibly earned the credit. Kanika Dhillon tweeted,

Dhillon added,

Haseen Dilruba's main lead Taapsee Pannu came to her support. Pannu tweeted,

A progressive call to credit a writer turned into a sexist rant by the age old misogyny of crediting a woman’s success to the house she marries in or the man she married. Your righteous call for equal credit can’t be overtaken by the bitterness in u. https://t.co/B7FrdSRakL

Several film personalities like Jyoti Kapur, Aniruddha Guha Jai Mehta and Bjioy Nambiar also took to their Twitter space to support Dhillon.
