Karthi Meets Fans As They Come From Japan To Chennai To See Ponniyin Selvan 2

Actor Karthi made time to meet and talk to his loyal fans who travelled all the way to Chennai from Japan to see Ponniyin Selvan 2. Karthi fans Terumi Kakubari Fujieda and Isao Endo travelled all the way from Japan to see him in Mani Ratnam's movie since they have been following him for a very long time.

Karthi made time to meet and converse with them after learning from their visit. Additionally, he had photos taken with them. Terumi revealed in an interview with DT Next that she had just travelled to Chennai for three days to see Ponniyin Selvan 2. She returned to Japan on a Monday night flight. She added that, prior to the epidemic, she spent two years living in India.

When asked how she first became interested in Karthi's work, she recalled seeing Tamil films while living in Chennai. She said, “When I was in Chennai, I watched Tamil films. I immediately liked Karthi. I have watched Kaithi several times. Since Tamil is a totally different language, I follow subtitles. Being Japanese, English subtitles are also difficult to follow. So, only when a DVD with Japanese subtitles was released, I bought it and ended up watching it often. It would be really grateful and helpful if Tamil films release in our country with Japanese subtitles.”

In the masterpiece of Mani Ratnam, Karthi portrays commander Vandhiyathevan. The second Ponniyin Selvan movie opened in theatres on Friday. The movie made more than Rs. 200 crore during its first weekend of release worldwide.

The reason Ponniyin Selvan 1 didn't have the same impact at the box office in the North as it did in Tamil Nadu was recently discussed by Karthi. He admitted that audiences in the North did find it a little challenging to follow Ponniyin Selvan 1 during a pre-release media interview.

Karthi explained why the Telugu film Pushpa and the Kannada film Kantara received a better reception from moviegoers in the North than Ponniyin Selvan 1. He said “I think they (North audience) found it a little difficult to understand. That’s what I felt from my understanding of the reception. Imagine reading a novel with so many character names, you forget some of them when you reach the tenth page. Think that’s what happened with them”.
