2019 has been a mixed bag for actor Karthi. After scoring a disaster earlier this year with Dev, he came up with Khaidi a couple of months back. Khaidi was a big hit in both Tamil and Telugu and brought Karthi back to form. Now, he is planning to end the year with another hit.
Karthi is now coming up with his last release of this year, Donga (Thambi in Telugu). Directed by Jeethu Joseph of Drishyam fame, this film features Jyothika in the other lead role. Both Karthi and Jyothika essay the role of siblings in the film. The theatrical trailer of the film was dropped yesterday.
Going by it, the plot is basically about a father and a daughter who miss their son/brother, who left the house after 15 years. To make his daughter happy, the father brings Karthi from Goa and introduces him as his son. How he managed to make everyone believe that he is the real family member forms the rest of the story. As per the director, the film also has a few thrilling elements.
The plot-line reminds us of the 2005 film Athadu starring Superstar Mahesh Babu. Athadu had a similar story but we can't confirm until we watch Donga in the theatres. The makers are planning to release the film on 20th December.
