Karunya Ram, an actor, set a goal for herself at the beginning of 2022: 12 months, 12 countries. She had not only completed the challenge but also discovered a new zest for life by the end of the year. "Travelling is my stress buster. But because of COVID, I was not able to do much of it in the last two years. Once things started becoming normal, I could not wait to travel. Also, I love the challenge of visiting 12 countries in a year. It is almost like if I can do this, I can do anything," Karunya shares.
When Karunya is on the move, she is constantly thinking about adventure, food, and exploration. She is also interested in history. "Travel gives me great opportunities to meet incredible people from all walks of life. That in turn helps me understand myself and my people better. Learning about food and culture is a bonus. I have visited 28 countries till date, and now I want to visit 100 countries before turning 40. That is my new goal, and I am working towards it," she says.
Karunya says she has been in love with travel from a young age. "Making memories from before even I could remember instilled the initial love for travel and a sense of adventure. We used to travel to our native place, and that’s when I caught the travel bug. It helped me understand new cultures and meet new people. I love the fresh burst of energy I get after a journey," she says.
Karunya traveled to Azerbaijan, Turkey, Belgium, Switzerland, Egypt, Vietnam, and Bangladesh last year. Azerbaijan was her favorite, she says. "My dream is to go on the Antarctica expedition, which happens only once a year. Only two percent of people from all over the world get a chance to be a part of it. It is one of the toughest and most challenging experiences. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps," she shares.
