Katy Perry is now the ambassador of the Britian based South Asia Charity

The famous pop star and singer Katy Perry is the brand new ambassador of a British based charity for the South Asian countries. Through a ceremony in London on Tuesday Prince Charles has appointed Katy Perry in this new role.

Perry met Prince Charles for the first time last year in Mumbai where the two spoke of the work that the trust does in India and other South Asian countries. The trust is founded by Prince Charles himself and it works to tackle the issues of poverty and inequality in the previously colonized territories.

Katy Perry was previously heard speaking of how she wants to work towards reducing child abuse and trafficking rackets that operate from a few South Asian countries including India.

Many have been surprised by this news as Katy Perry is neither Asian nor British. Instead, she might just be a way to project a certain amount of democratic friendship at a time when Britain needs more and more support from the rest of the world post-Brexit.

The singer posted a tweet on her official Twitter handle revealing the news that read, "Pleased to be appointed by HRH The Prince of Wales @clarencehouse as an ambassador for @britishasiantst Children’s Protection Fund. India is a place I have a magnetic connection with, so I’m excited to be part of the work of helping the children of S. Asia."
