Prashanth Neel’s previous outing, KGF turned out to be a money-spinner at the box office. The period action thriller set in the 1950’s Kolar backdrop is by far, the biggest box office blockbuster in Kannada cinema to date.
Now, Prashanth Neel is said to be incorporating a KGF-esque storyline for his next film, Salaar, featuring Prabhas and Shruti Hassan in the lead roles.
Salaar is set in a 1970’s Mysore backdrop and it will be a periodic action thriller, much like the KGF duology. Prashanth Neel will be presenting Prabhas in a larger-than-life avatar. The macho actor will be seen as an unapologetic assassin associated with an underworld kingpin.
The makers of Salaar plan to shoot the entire film in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Mysore. A special set, replicating 1970’s Mysore is currently being erected in Mysore for Salaar’s forthcoming schedule. A few high-octane action episodes will be shot in this schedule and the unit is prepping up for the same.
Initially, it was said that Prabhas would be joining the sets of Salaar later this month but the latest updates suggest otherwise. The Baahubali actor will apparently resume shooting for Salaar from this September. The makers are planning to cast a renowned South Indian actor for a pivotal role in the film. The final call on the same will be taken sooner than later.
