Debates are raging for and against the political content of the film Kuruthi. There was also criticism that the Muslim representation in the film is Islamophobic. Mamukoya, who played the lead role of Moosa Khader, said that Kuruthi shows the current social situation. He says that today’s society is like that and the film is about the things that happen in society.
“There is no escape if caste politics is taken for business. Some are going to kill, some are going to die. If you say you are not doing the right thing, you will not succeed. People need to think;” he said. His response was to the Manorama Online interview.
He also added that Prithviraj is an intelligent man and knows what he does. “Prithviraj is a good person who knows people, knows acting and knows cinema well. There is nothing to discuss. He knows what we mean. Everything done is well studied. Prithviraj is not someone who just does anything;” Mamukkoya added.
There were comments on social media that Kuruthi was the best performance of Mamukoya’s career. Prithviraj had said in an interview that he had never seen Mamukkoya tired even once on the set.
