Lal Singh Chadha is the film in which Bollywood star Aamir Khan returned after a gap of four years. Expected to be a huge hit with a budget of 180 crores, the film has not collected even 50 crores by the end of the week. There are reports that Aamir is planning to compensate the distributors for the failure of the film.
India Today reported that Aamir has informed his distributors that he is ready to pay compensation, though the exact amount is not known. There were calls to boycott the film and the release of the film was severely affected.
But v18 Studios, which has taken over the distribution of the film, has informed that there has been no financial loss due to the film and there are no distributors from outside the film. "It is currently running at Lal Singh Chadha Theatre. The film has screenings in India and abroad. Allegations that the film is a flop and causing financial losses are baseless". v18 CEO Ajith Andhare informed.
In an earlier interview with India Today, trade expert Ramesh Bala pointed out that even if Lal Singh Chadha fails in theaters, he will succeed in OTT. Ramesh Bala's observation was that the film was sold on OTT with a huge amount of money and considering the star value of Aamir Khan, the film was a huge failure in the theaters but would be successful on OTT.
