His first posthumous release is his upcoming film, Lanke. Filmmaker director Ram Prasad, in an interview to Times of India, said, "Vijay's character is based on a real-life character, as the film is inspired by a real incident. His character is pivotal to the story and is the catalyst for the entire narrative to move forward. He was very excited about this particular role. Vijay hailed from Chikmagalur, but this character comes from the hale Mysuru area. The body language, way of speaking, and slang are all different. This is unlike any of the films he had done before and he did a lot of homework to perfect the slang. He used to send all his preparations through WhatsApp to me and ask for ways to improve. He was glad that he got to experiment with yet another different character in his career, through Lanke."
