The death of a 19-year-old fan of Ajith Kumar has been making headlines. There is no doubt that South actors have a huge fan base. Recently, as Varisu and Thuvinu were released in celebration of Pongal 2023, Tamil actors Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar fought it out at the box office. Following the premiere of both movies, tragic news from Chennai startled many people. During the release celebration for Thuvinu, a 19-year-old Ajith fan passed away.
Speaking about the same, acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj advised fans to live safely and with caution while celebrating the film of their favourite star. This took place during a media interaction. He also asked fans to view the film as merely cinematic and entertaining. He emphasized that there is no need to risk one's life to celebrate a film.
He was reported by Indian Express as adding, “It would be good if fans realize their responsibilities and act accordingly. This is just cinema and there’s no need to lose your life for it. It is only for entertainment and they should watch films happily and go back home responsibly. I believe one needn’t risk life for the sake of celebrations.”
For the uninitiated, a huge crowd had gathered outside the Rohini Theatre Complex in Koyambedu since Wednesday night, including Ajith and Vijay's fans. Ajith fan Bharath Kumar, 19, of Chintadripet, danced in celebration while standing on a moving truck. He reportedly damaged his spinal cord after falling from the lorry. He was sent to Government Kilpauk Hospital right away. He passed away early on Thursday morning.
