Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun back out from Pongal race

This year's Sankranthi turned out to be very special for the Telugu film industry as both the big films which have released, got received extremely well by the audience and remained as blockbusters at the box office. Superstar Mahesh Babu's Sarileru Neekevvaru and Stylish Star Allu Arjun's Ala...Vaikunthapurramuloo has done a collective business of around 300 crores and started 2020 with a bang.

A few days back, we heard that these stars are planning to clash yet again for next year's Sankranthi with their respective films. While Allu Arjun is working with Sukumar now, Mahesh Babu is prepping up to start his next with Vamshi Paidipally. Both the films aimed for Sankranthi release. But then came a shocking announcement from SS Rajamouli. The maverick director has announced that his film RRR will hit the screens on January 8, 2021.

RRR is one of the most anticipated films in Indian Cinema. It will have a pan-Indian release. Most of the theatres in Telugu states will screen that magnum opus itself. People wouldn't dare to compete with Rajamouli's film and gives it a solo release every time. Thus, we are now hearing that both Bunny and Mahesh are planning to either prepone or postpone the release dates of their films.
