Mahima Chaudhary, who made her debut in Bollywood opposite Shah Rukh Khan
in Pardes, disappeared mysteriously from the industry. The actress was at the peak of her career and she was being offered big projects. While filming with Kajol Devgan
and Ajay Devgn
in 1999, the actress went through a horrible car accident and had to say goodbye to her career. Opening up about the same to a leading website, Mahima said, “In Bengaluru, while on my way to the studio, I had a massive accident where a truck hit my car, and the glass of my car went into my face mostly. I thought I was dying."
Recalling the horrific incident, Mahima said she gets teary-eyed whenever she talks about it. “I get teary-eyed when I talk about it. I didn't look at myself; there was no mirror. Lights which had UV rays light couldn't be there so that the marks don't stay. There were a lot of movies lined up for myself during that time, and I had to let it go, " she added.
When asked if she has any project offers coming in now, the Dhadkan actress said, “Frankly, there isn't anything coming my way. That is much of it. I have been keeping myself busy with events, live events, promotions, and of course, you have a child to raise and it takes an entire village to raise one, and I am a single parent (laughs). It was clear that if an actor is married, there is no part for them. There are so many people who braved them before us like Sharmila Tagore ji, Rekha ji, Shabana Azmi Ji, they continued with work. But generally, the attitude was oh, she’s getting married."
