Sonali Kulkarni has been a part of Marathi cinema for the past 17 years. Apart from several Marathi films, she has acted in two Hindi films, Grand Masti and Singam Returns. He has also appeared as a guest on reality shows, including Bigg Boss Marathi. The 34-year-old has also won several awards, including the Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Newcomer in 2008. On New Year's Day, Sonali herself confirmed that she is a part of Malaikottai Valiban through social media.
The cinematography of the film is done by Madhu Neelakandan. The music will be composed by Prashant Pillai. Gokul Das directed the film, and Ronex Xavier designed the costumes. Max Lab Cinemas and Century Films are the production partners of Shibu Baby John, along with John and Mary Creative. The official announcement of the project was made on October 25. This put an end to long-running rumours on social media that a film starring Lijo and Mohanlal would be coming together.
