Malayalam filmmakers have realized the potential of OTT platforms during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. People in Kerala are on the brink of an outbreak of the third wave. Theatres in the state are still shut and they may reopen it for a while before the third wave hits the peak. Meanwhile, Malayalam film #Home will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from August 19. Written and directed by Rojin Thomas, #Home follows the story of a technically challenged father Oliver Twist (Indrans), who wishes to understand how social media works so he can connect with his son Anthony (Sreenath Bhasi). Indrans is a costume-designer turned-actor and has completed 40 years in films.
In a statement, Indrans described his long career and how it has changed with time. He said, “In my 40-year long career, I have seen Malayalam cinema changing. From old Malayalam cinema to new age Malayalam movies, I have seen it all. The only way to stay relevant in the industry is to adapt to the changes and go with the flow. When it comes to working, I am not rigid, nor do I have any demands from my directors or writers. I enjoy working with the new generation of actors and I am not reluctant to work with them. In fact, there’s so much that I get to learn from these young and budding artists. Talking about #Home, I am extremely happy to be a part of this project and glad the filmmakers considered me for this role.”
