Malayalam actress Jewel Mary has signed her next film. She will play the role of a mom in debutant director Rajeev Rajendran's Kshanikam. Jewel Mary is a television anchor turned actress. She is thrilled about her upcoming film Kshanikam, written by Deepthi Nair. The film is tipped to be a family drama that is based on real-life incidents and deals with a topic that has been dealt with in films before. Speaking to the Time of India, Jewel Mary said, "It is based on something that happened to a friend of Deepthi. It is about foster care and when I heard the story, I thought, ‘actually yes, it is something that needs to be considered and discussed. It is about conflicts that can arise in foster care."
