This year, the organizers of the Jio MAMI International Film Festival are holding a special screening of the film Kaifinama, which is a documentary on legendary Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi. This is a 2019 film made by Sumantra Ghoshal. The film documents the life of Azmi with the interviews of him, his wife, children, friends, and colleagues.
Azmi is a socialist who tried to spread his ideology through his writing and poems. His early life and his native village are also showcased in the film. Azmi also penned lyrics in various Bollywood films like Garm Hawa, Naseeb and Heer Raanjha.
Director Sumantra Ghoshal is a renowned documentary filmmaker who is best known for his works The Speaking Hand about Tabla player Zakir Hussain and The Unseen Sequence about Bharatanatyam dancer Malavika Sarukkai. The art connoisseurs are eagerly waiting to catch this special screening at the festival. MAMI International Film Festival will start tonight and will conclude on the 24th of October.
