Director Mani Ratnam has been occupied with the pre-production and production work of his ambitious film, Ponniyin Selvan. The historic period drama is thebased on Kalki Krishnamoorthy's literary novel of the same name. Recently, director Mai Ratnam and his team completed a long schedule in Hyderabad. Reportedly, he was planning to shoot the next schedule in Madhya Pradesh. Due to the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases, Mani Ratnam seems to have changed his plans. The next schedule will be shot in either Chennai or Hyderabad.
Currently, Mani Ratnam and his team are planning the logistics and the set works for the schedule, which will begin once they chart out a perfect plan. In an Instagram live chat, actor Karthi confirmed that they have completed 70 per cent of the shoot. Ponniyin Selvan, which is produced by Lyca Productions, stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, lal and several other actors. Director Mani Ratnam confirmed in an Instagram live session that the film will release in two parts. The film has music scored by AR Rahman.
