Maverick director Mani Ratnam is currently making his dream project Ponniyin Selvan. Based on the legendary Tamil novel of the same name, this film's shoot went on to the floors a couple of weeks ago in Thailand. Currently, Mani and his team are shooting a few key scenes in the forest areas of Thailand.

Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai are playing the lead roles in this period drama. Both Jayam Ravi and Karthi are taking part in the first schedule happening in Thailand. Apparently, Mani Ratnam ordered both the actors to be on the sets before 6 AM and taking the first shot by 6 AM.
Thus, both Jayam Ravi and Karthi are waking up at midnight and entering the makeup rooms by 3 AM. As it is a period drama, the actors sport different getups and makeup and hence, they need time to get ready. Thus, they are getting prepped up three hours before the first shot. We heard that Mani is packing up the shoot before sunset itself.
This Thailand schedule will happen until February and then, Mani will shoot some key scenes with Vikram and Trisha in March. Ponniyin Selvan will hit the screens in 2021.
