'Ponniyin Selvan,' Mani Ratnam's magnum opus work, is all set to release in theatres on September 30. With only four days until the film's premiere, the core cast is on a promotional tour around the country. The film's advance booking opened on Sunday, and within a day, the film's pre-sales earnings allegedly topped Rs 1 crore.

 
According to accounts, the film's first-day tickets have totally sold out. The pre-sales value of the film is based only on bookings made in Tamil Nadu with screenings beginning in local theatres. Bookings at theatre chains in Chennai and other states along with IMAX are yet to open.
 
'Ponniyin Selvan' is the first Tamil film to release in IMAX format. According to reports, approximately 78,000 seats have already been sold. The film will probably make an advance booking of Rs 8 crore by Thursday, after reservations for additional languages open.
 
Aside from India, the film is expected to do well in the United States and Singapore. According to trade analysts on social media, the film has already earned Rs 3.25 crore in the United States. Ponniyin Selvan is now leading in advance bookings in Singapore also.
 
The film stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, and Trisha. It is a historical epic drama adapted from Kalki's fictional Tamil novel. The film is being released in five distinct languages around the world: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam.
 
Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Rahman, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Nasser, Jayaram, Kishore, and Prakash Raj are other prominent actors in the film.
