Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan Enters 400 Crore Club Within 10 Days

Ten days after its debut Ponniyin Selvan is still doing well in theatres. It is a landmark film, both for Mani Ratnam and for Kollywood. Ponniyin Selvan stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai as the key characters. It was released in five different languages on September 30. The movie reportedly shattered all previous records at the box office after earning over Rs 400 crore. 'Ponniyin Selvan' is currently the highest-grossing Tamil movie worldwide, including in the US and India. The film reportedly outperformed Rajinikanth's "2.0". It made close to $6 million at the US box office. Many critics have given the movie excellent reviews. It has been acknowledged as a Tamil movie that would uphold the standards of Kollywood. According to news reports, the movie's weekend earnings could total up to Rs 150 crore. Ponniyin Selvan becomes Tamil Nadu's second-highest weekend earner. It is just behind Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kamal Hassan starrer"Vikram." The film's creators are pleased with the success of "Ponniyin Selvan 1". Director Mani Ratnam revealed that work for part 2 has already started. He also stated that the movie will be released in theatres in the summer of 2023.
