A popular director in all film industries, Mani Ratnam is presently occupied with the shooting of his upcoming magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan'. This movie is a book adaptation, a five-part Tamil novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
The last film in his direction, the complete gangster epic ‘Chekka Chivandha Vaanam’ was both a hit and a flop due to its commercial aspect.
The film is being produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. The film has a star cast that includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Ashwin Kakumanu, Lal, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman among others in pivotal roles.
The shooting schedule for this next film began on 12th December 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. The makers of the film have recently revealed the title font for this period film.
