Manisha also wrote in the book about the setbacks that happened in her life while she was at the peak of fame. "I had money, fame, awards and everything. And friends to party with anytime. I began to feel something out of place despite the life that only the chosen ones get. I started feeling this in 1999 during the shooting of Lavris' 'Till then I was working non-stop. I told Dimple Kapadia that I was tired of waking up every day, putting on make-up and going to shoot on location and coming back home. The pressure of playing so many roles, expressing so many emotions every day, started to bother me. I became a robot. Let the camera instantly take on a different persona in a snap of action'
'The pressure was too much. The complexities of my characters began to bite into my soul. I didn't have a vacation. No time to see clear blue skies and beaches. Just constant trips to the movie set and the hotel,' Manisha Koirala wrote in the book. Manisha also revealed that she started drinking alcohol to calm her mind due to busy schedule in movies. 'I started drinking to distract myself from the shoot. If I was on a diet it would be vodka. I remember my ex-boyfriend once saying that I have no balance' 'You're a workaholic. He asked where do you have a balance either working or partying,' said Manisha.
I never appreciated my work. I started doing wrong things on purpose. To hate myself. I picked the wrong movies. My ego started growing. Even though it was a B-grade film, I insisted that I should be the central character. I didn't even care who the director was at that time. Manisha also wrote that getting a lead role was more important than anything else. The actress clarifies in the book that she started looking at life in a different way after getting cancer.
