After Disney bought 20th Century Fox in a landmark deal Marvel once again has ownership over some of its biggest comic book characters. Kevin Feige announced the homecoming of The Fantastic Four among other characters last year at San Diego Comic-Con International. Feige revealed that Marvel's original superhero family will be making their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 5.
Now rumors suggest that Kevin Feige is looking at an old reliable face to direct the Fantastic Four film. According to the host of Movie Talk and Collider John Campea, Marvel is looking to bring back Joss Whedon. Whedon has previously directed Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whedon is credited by many for the immense success of the first Avengers film back in 2012. The director later also helped as a creative consultant and overseer on films like Thor: The Dark World and Agents if S.H.I.E.L.D for ABC.
However, the rumors must be taken with a pinch of salt. Back in 2016, Whedon said that he is not going to direct another Marvel film. He also helped DC direct the Justice League film after Zack Snyder quit due to unprecedented events.
Earlier some news sources also talked about Marvel's meeting with John Krasinski. Many fans of Marvel and The Fantastic Four have appealed for Krasinski to be cast as Reed Richards. Krasinski himself has also hinted at the same fact and said he would be willing to play the role.
Meanwhile, Marvel has postponed the release of its upcoming Black Widow film due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
