Marvel Studios has now halted the shooting for Shang Chi amid Coronavirus scare

It has just been a day since WHO officially announced that Coronavirus is now a pandemic. A pandemic means when a deadly disease has reached two or more continents. The fear amid Coronavirus has led to many films changing release dates and canceling scheduled events.

Now, Marvel Studios has halted the shoot for one of their upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Director Destin Daniel Cretton who is behind the director's chair for Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is being monitored for Coronavirus. The film is currently shooting in Australia.

Marvel Studios issued an official statement which read, "As many of you know, Destin, our director, has a newborn baby. He wanted to exercise additional caution given the current environment and decided to get tested for Covid-19 today.

"He is currently self-isolating under the recommendation of his doctor. While he waits for the results of the test, we are suspending 1st unit production in an abundance of caution until he gets the results this coming week. The second unit and off production will continue as normal. We will reach out to everyone by Tuesday for the latest update,"

The film is set to drop in theatres in February 2021. However, it isn't clear anymore if the rescheduled shooting will affect the release date.

It isn't the only film to have been affected by Coronavirus. Other big-name films like Daniel Craig's No time to Die and Quiet Place 2 are all delayed. The Vin Diesel starrer Fast and Furious 9 has also pushed its release date back amidst the health crisis.
