Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have yet again proved themselves different from the royal family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shocked the entire world with their announcement to step back as senior members of the family, this Wednesday. They stated "We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages."

 

The couple has uploaded an intense Q&A up on their website, answering any possible query we could have regarding their decision. They have also revealed their action plan for the future with their baby Archie and in their new ‘progressive’ roles. They have also mentioned how they wouldn’t take part under the Royal Rota system, which is a system that allows UK media outlets, namely The Daily Express, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Evening Standard, The Telegraph, The Times, The Sun; access to the life inside the Palace, acting as the former information source for any media firm in the world. They intend on bringing in a ‘revised media approach’. They will be inviting 'specialist media to specific events/engagements to give greater access to their cause-driven activities'. They also promise to 'provide access to credible media outlets focused on objective news reporting to cover key moments and events'. Furthermore, the couple reassured us that they would 'continue to share information directly to the wider public via their official communications channels'.

 

The Duke and Duchess have chosen to revise their media policy to reflect both their forthcoming change as members of the Royal Family with financial independence and their wish to reshape and broaden access to their work.
