Just a few weeks ago, Meghan Markle released her first book titled The Bench. Turns out her 2-year-old son Archie loves the picture book! While discussing her book during a recent interview with NPR, Markle revealed that Archie can not get enough of the book. Markle's The Bench is a picture book inspired by a poem that she wrote to Prince Harry as a Father's Day present.
"Archie loves the book," Markle to NPR. Speaking about Archie's love of book Markle said, "which is great because he has a voracious appetite for books and [when we] constantly read him a book, he goes, 'again, again, again!'”
Meghan Markle then continued to talk about how Prince Harry and her feelings about Archie's love for The Bench. She said, "But now, the fact that he loves The Bench and we can say, 'Mommy wrote this for you,' feels amazing."
Meghan Markle also let her listeners in on what inspired her to write The Bench. Markle revealed that 'quiet' moments that Prince Harry shared with Archie inspired her.
“I often find, and especially in this past year, I think so many of us realized how much happens in the quiet,” Markle revealed.
“It was moments like that, watching them from out of the window and watching [my husband] just, you know, rock him to sleep or carry him or, you know … those lived experiences, from my observation, are the things that I infused in this poem,” explained the Duchess of Sussex.
Illustrated by Christian Robinson, The Bench is about the special bond between fathers and sons. It showcases the precious moments that fathers share with their sons. Meghan Markle also announced that she and Prince Harry plan on donating 2000 copies of The Bench to schools, libraries, and such.
