The Indian film industry is shell shocked by the demise of Irrfan Khan. The actor passed away yesterday morning in Mumbai. He was 53. Irrfan was suffering from colon infection for a long time. The funeral got held in Versova's Kabrastaan last evening. As we are under lockdown, not many people have attended the funeral of Irrfan. But some of his closest colleagues have attended the funeral and paid their last respects to Irrfan. The celebrities who have attended the funeral are Mika Singh, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rajpal Yadav, Kapil Sharma, and Tigmanshu Dhulia.
Tigmanshu Dhulia is the director of Irrfan's award-winning film, Paan Singh Tomar. Irrfan won National Award for Best Actor, for his performance in the film. He said that most of the people could not attend the funeral due to the coronavirus pandemic. He said that he know Irrfan from his National School of Drama (NSD) days. Tigmanshu said, "He was two years senior to me. I am sad that how small his funeral is. Otherwise, there would have been a massive turnout."
Irrfan's first big-screen appearance was in the 1988 film Salaam Bombay. After that, he gave some phenomenal performances in films like Haasil, Maqbool, Life in a Metro, New York, The Lunch Box, Talvar, Madaari, and Hindi Medium. He also acted in a few International films like Inferno, Jurassic World, Slumdog Millionaire, The Amazing Spider-Man and Life of Pi. He was last seen in the movie Angrezi Medium. This film had hit the screens in March this year.
