Emraan Hashmi’s new film ‘Dybbuk’ is all set for release. The film will have its release on Amazon Prime on October 29. Emraan Hashmi plays the lead role in the film. With the film approaching its release date, actor Emraan Hashmi says that he was waiting for a good script. In an interview with ETimes, Emraan said that he is a big fan of horror films.
“My love story with the horror genre never ends. I had just paused for a bit, waiting for a good script from a good filmmaker and this was it. I am very happy to be back with the genre that I love the most. Horror, for me, is right up there as a genre choice. I have loved to watch horror films ever since I was a kid and it is always good to push the boundaries and bring something new to the audience. We’ve not been very fair with this genre in our country; we have not made too many special films. There are a few but not as many as there should be;” said Emraan Hashmi.
He added his view on selecting his films. “For any movie, it’s the story and the character, that’s the first thing. The director, producer, and how they take the vision ahead are also important. It could be a great story but if the director doesn’t have the tool or the passion to make it then it is not going to work. It will not be put out there the way it was intended to. These four ingredients are very important. It also has to be something new, something that the audience has not seen before;” Emraan said.
He also shared glimpses about his personal life. Emraan said that he is loving his new lifestyle. “I am thrashing it out in the gym but it has got nothing to with a particular film. During the lockdown, I got more fitness-oriented than I was before and I am very happy with this newfound passion for body-building and I am loving it. So, I am going to continue with that pretty much all my life;” said Emraan Hashmi.
‘Dybbuk’ is the Hindi remake of the 2017 Malayalam horror film 'Ezra'. Ezra's director Jai K is the one who’s preparing the Hindi remake as well. Nikita Dutta and Manav Kaul will play other important roles in ‘Dybbuk’.
‘Ezra’ is a 2017 Malayalam supernatural horror thriller. Jay K wrote and directed the film 'Ezra'. Apart from Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas and Priya Anand also played important roles. The movie was a huge hit and grossed 41 crores at the box office.
