Vinayan says director Nadirsha has decided to change the name of the film Eesho following opposition from Christian organizations. Director Vinayan wrote on Facebook that he had spoken to Nadirsha about the matter and that the new name would be announced soon. Vinayan said that controversies related to the cinema should be avoided. Nadirsha has not officially announced this.
Vinayan also wrote on Facebook that the movie Rakshasaraman, which had Mammootty as the hero, was renamed Rakshasarajavu following the protests of Rama devotees. Christian groups have argued that the film’s name is an insult to Jesus and the Christian faith. The film’s tagline- Not from the Bible- was changed after the controversy.
Avoid controversy. Nadirsha is ready to change the name Eesho... If it hurts anyone when the name Eesho is given to a new movie, can’t Nadirshah change that name? I shared with Nadirsha the contents of the messages and phone calls that came to me after sharing the poster of the movie yesterday…
It is not enough to say thanks to my dear brother Nadirshah who said, ‘I promise to change the name’ If the name Eesho hurts anyone. Let's wait for the new name. Let all the problems end here;” Vinayan wrote on Facebook.
Jafar Idukki is also in the lead role in Jayasurya’s Eesho. The film is scripted by Suneesh Waranad after the film Mohanlal. The director and screenwriter had earlier said that there was nothing in the film that would offend the Christian faith and believers.
