Since the last decade, we are not witnessing any devotional films in the Indian Cinema. When the genre is on the verge of extinction, RJ Balaji is now coming up with a devotional drama called Mookuthi Amman. Nayanthara is playing the lead role in it. NJ Saravanan is directing the film along with Balaji. The film was originally slated for the release in the summer holidays. But all those plans got canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. As many films are now opting for a direct digital release, rumors started spreading, stating that even Mookuthi Amman will opt for an OTT release. But director RJ Balaji denied all those rumors. He said that Mookuthi Amman will definitely have a theatrical release.
The film features Nayanthara in the role of Goddess Durga. Speaking in a recent Instagram chat session, RJ Balaji stated that Mookuthi Amman may become one of the first films to hit the screens post the lockdown. He also stated that Nayanthara is the most disciplined actress he has ever worked with. He opined that her sincerity and dedication might be the reason why she became a top actress in a male-dominated industry. This film marks the debut of Balaji as a director. Apparently, he is also playing a key role in the film. Currently, the post-production works of this film are going on in full swing.
Mookuthi Amman is being produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the banner Vels Films International. Girish G is composing the music for it. The release details of the film will be out once the situation comes back to the normal state.
