Nayanthara is hailed as the lady superstar in the Tamil film industry. She has been single-handedly picking several women-oriented scripts and has set a trend in Kollywood. Now, many heroines and producers are confident of doing women-oriented scripts in the industry. In 2019, Nayanthara's boyfriend and director Vignesh Shivan floated his production house, Rowdy Pictures, and announced his first film as Netrikann, directed by Milind Rau. The shooting of Netrikann was wrapped up last year and the makers were waiting for a proper release date. However, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the makers have decided to skip theatrical releases and go the OTT way.
A few weeks ago, there were rumors doing the rounds that Netrikann's streaming rights have been sold to Disney+Hotstar. Today (July 21), the OTT platform released a new poster and confirmed that the film will release soon. Vignesh Shivan shared the poster of Netrikann and added that the film's release date will be announced soon. In Netrikann, Nayanthara will play the role of a visually impaired person. Reportedly, the film is based on the Korean hit film Blind. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is yet to be made. Going by the reports, Netrikann might release sometime in August.
