Netizens demand ban of Farhan Akthar’s Toofan

Amazon Prime Video has recently announced that Farhan Akthar starrer and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial Toofan will be releasing on the OTT giant on May 12. As soon as the actor and the makers of the film have announced this big news, the film received backlash from the audiences and netizens.

Going more into the details, the film is skipping the theatrical release and has Mrunal Thakur as the leading lady. The reason why the film is receiving backlash is Farhan's stance on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Farhan had taken an active part in the CAA protest that happened in Mumbai in the year 2019 and now, audiences feel that he is an anti-national.
During the protest, Farhan said, “As a citizen of the country and as somebody who was born and has grown up with a certain idea of India, it is important for me to raise my voice. If everything was ok, why would so many people turn up? Not just in Mumbai, but Delhi, Assam, Bangalore, Hyderabad.”
So now, in context to all the statements he has made already, Twitteratis are pouring in tweets to ban the release of the film and the movement has been going strong on social media.
