No Matter What The World Does, People Like Us Stay Positive, Shah Rukh Khan Responds To Boycott Pathaan Campaign

Shah Rukh Khan discusses reactionary social media interventions in the wake of boycott calls for his new film, Pathaan. Shah Rukh was speaking at the inauguration of the Kolkata International Film Festival. King Khan's response to the boycott call against the film Pathaan on social media, especially on Twitter, is without comment.

"Commenting on movies through social media is very popular these days. Social media plays a huge role in shaping our social narratives today. My opinion is different from the general opinion that social media has a negative impact on cinema. I think cinema has a lot more responsibility these days," said Shah Rukh Khan.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh also spoke about social media being used for divisiveness. "I read somewhere that negativity increases social media consumption. Naturally, its market potential will also increase. Such efforts will end unity and replace it with division. The film presents the stories of human frailties in the simplest language. It helps us understand each other better. It conveys stories of repentance, unity, and brotherhood to many. Seeing the world through world cinema is very important. It is not just a sight, but it also creates a path of mutual recognition for people of different cultures, colors, castes, and religions. Film festivals like these can break down stereotypes. Through cinema, we can create a better world for the coming generation. No matter what the world does, people like us stay positive," Shah Rukh added.

Pathaan is a film starring Shah Rukh Khan which announced four years ago. A video song from the film, which is slated to release on January 25, was released the other day. A group of Sangh Parivar supporters took to Twitter to call for a boycott of the film. This was after pointing out that the heroine Deepika Padukone's bikini is saffron in color.
