A lot of anticipation was built around this year's Oscar nominations, as RRR was in the top list to be nominated for several categories. The nominations are now out, and RRR got just one nomination.
There was a lot of hope and expectations surrounding this year's Oscar nominations, as NTR was in the list of top 10 actors who could potentially get a Best Actor nomination. The nomination procedure took place for a couple of days, and the nominations have been announced today. NTR failed to get a nomination, but Naatu Naatu managed to a nomination. Even this is a very good piece of news for Indian fans and Telugu audeince, as even this creates history in Telugu cinema and Indian cinema.
No other Indian cinema has managed to get a nomination in this category in forever at the Oscars. Moreover, no Indian film managed to get a nomination at the Oscars in any category, in over two decades now. Naatu Naatu won the award for the Best Original Song at the Golden Globe awards this year. Keeping that in mind, it is being expected that the song will get home the Oscar as well.
If RRR manages to bring home the Oscar award for Naatu Naatu, then that would be a huge achievement. While AR Rahman did receive an Oscar award, he got it for a Hollywood movie, and not an Indian movie. Keeping that in mind, it would be huge if RRR wins the award, and everyone is hoping that it would.
The entire team of RRR is expected to be present at the awards ceremony this year. The 95th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California on March 12, 2023.
