Following the January 24 announcement of the Oscar nominations, M M Keeravani is ecstatic beyond words. In Rajamouli's RRR, his song "Naatu Naatu" has earned a nomination for Best Song. Keeravani is not taken aback. “After ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Golden Globe I was confident of the journey. I knew we were on the right track. I am confident we will bring home the Oscar.”
Keeravani feels a responsibility to be the one to bring this exceptional honour to India. He said, “My greatest joy is to make my country proud. ‘Naatu Naatu’ was not created in isolation. There were many others in our team who made the song possible. My cousin Rajamouli always brings out the best in me. If he had not told me what he expected from me ‘Naatu Naatu’ wouldn’t be possible.”
Keeravani is currently getting ready for the March 12 Oscar ceremony. He added, “There is a lot of work to be done, lots of hurdles to be crossed. But I think we can do it.”
About RRR, it is a fictional story of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju two Indian rebels. The bond between Ram and Bheem is explored in the movie, as well as their voyage out from home in the 1920s. In March 2022, the movie was released in theatres.
