Parasite movie wins an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay

One of the major things that build a solid drama in a story is the screenplay. The better the screenplay, the engaging the film will be. Thus, the Academy honours the best screenplay awards annually to the writers who come up with an extraordinary way of storytelling, with the awards of Best Screenplay.

This year, five films have nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Award. They are Knives Out, Marriage Story, Parasite, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Beating all the Hollywood biggies in contention, Parasite went on to bag this prestigious award. With this, Parasite has become the first Korean film to get an Oscar. That made it very special for all the makers and actors involved in the film. Parasite is also the first Asian film to bag an Oscar for Best Screenplay.

Director Bong Jon-ho and Han Jin-won have jointly received this award for writing the screenplay for Parasite. Both of them were quite elated on receiving this award. Bong Jon-ho said that they never write a story to represent their country but this award is special for their homeland South Korea. Bong also thanked his wife and all the actors who were part of making this cinematic marvel.
