Petition in the Kerala High Court to stop the screening of The Kerala Story movie. A public interest petition was filed in court, demanding an immediate stay of the film's screening.
The court hearing the petition rejected the request for an emergency stay. Seeking an explanation from the Central Board of Film Certification, the division bench adjourned the hearing of the petition to Friday. The court asked the petitioner whether he had heard hearsay about the content of the film. The Girls Islamic Organisation has also approached the High Court, seeking to stop the screening of the film.
The demand in the petition is that all hateful comments in the film should be removed and the Censor Board should revoke the A certificate. The film needs scrutiny by the Censor Board. The petition alleges that many parts of the teaser are defamatory of Kerala, and currently only 10 scenes have been removed by the Censor Board.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also come out against the Kerala Story movie. He said that the film was made with the aim of spreading hatred against Kerala.
